Citizen Band (CB) UHF radios.
Citizen Band (CB) UHF radios provide reliable, short-range communication, especially in remote or rugged areas. They are license-free, making them accessible to anyone. Ideal for outdoor activities, they offer clear communication even in challenging environments. Useful in emergencies, ensuring connectivity when cell service is unavailable.
AM or HF radios – Distance.
AM or HF radios excel in long-range communication, capable of reaching across hundreds or even thousands of Kilometres. They can be used for global communication, especially in remote areas without internet or phone service. HF radios are resilient in emergencies, offering reliable communication in challenging conditions.
CB etiquette and Channel Usage.
CB etiquette involves speaking clearly, using short transmissions, and avoiding offensive language. UHF Channel 5 and 35 are reserved for emergencies, Channel 40 is commonly used by truckers, whilst Channel 28 is used by travellers and caravaners, etc. Wait for pauses before speaking, identify yourself, and avoid interrupting ongoing conversations.
